The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus came out in April, but there are already rumors going around about their successors, the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus, especially given that the smartphones are due out early next year. Now the rumors are starting to be fleshed out a bit as a new benchmark that appeared two days ago on Geekbench shows what are believed to be the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus specs. The model in the benchmark listing has been given as Samsung SM-G965F.
Are these the Galaxy S9 Plus specs?
Some parts of this benchmark listing are obvious. For example, the device will run on Android Oreo while using a “universal9810” motherboard, which suggests the Exynos 9810 chipset. Samsung discreetly revealed that chipset at the end of last week, and it is expected that the chipset will power both the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus.
What is confusing is that the rumored device is expected to be equipped with only 4GB of RAM, which is widely seen as being too low given that the Galaxy Note 8 and other smartphones in the same range now sport at least 5GB of RAM, if not 6GB or more. In addition to that, the single-core score of 1,191 and multi-core score of 3,835 received from the benchmark are either too low or simply confusing because they are worse than the scores achieved by the Galaxy S8 in various other tests.
Still, Geekbench has sometimes been tricked by modified handsets in the past, according to Techradar. Thus, there is a possibility that the information contained in the benchmarks is not 100% confirmed and that perhaps we aren’t looking at the real Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus specs after all.
Other rumors about the Galaxy S9 Plus specs
In addition to the benchmark listing, we have been hearing other rumors regarding the Galaxy S9 Plus specs. For example, one rumor posted by Chinese leaker IceUniverse on Twitter suggests that Samsung won’t get rid of the 3.5mm headphone jack for its upcoming flagship smartphones, meaning the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus. He also said that the forthcoming smartphones will be equipped with a front camera that has a 3D sensor and BBAR layer-anti-ghosting technology, which will increase the quality of images and videos.
IceUniverse also tweeted this cryptic note based on the leaked renderings for the Galaxy S9, which suggest that the smartphone will feature a screen with 21:9 aspect ratio.
What is after 18:9? 21:9, I need time to get used to it.? pic.twitter.com/W1F8oiMDe4

However, the renderings are not confirmed yet, and neither are any of these rumors. The only thing we can say is that historically, IceUniverse has reported credible details in the past.
It is believed that the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus will be revealed at the Mobile World Congress in 2018. Until then, we hope to get more information regarding the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus specs.
