The Samsung Galaxy S8 stepped out from the shadows about six months ago. However, the rumors and expectations regarding the next year’s model – Galaxy S9 – have already emerged. Reportedly, the smartphone has already passed some stages of production. At this point, there are many speculations regarding the way the phone is being reconfigured, and one of Samsung Galaxy 9 rumors suggest that Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 chipset made an appearance on the flagship device.
As the New Year approaches, rumors are going to arrive in much greater volume, suggesting the phone’s other specifications and functions. It was the same case with Galaxy Note 8 and Apple’s iPhone 8. Hence, it is not a surprise that everyone already immerses into Samsung Galaxy S9 rumors.
So, according to the rumors, the Samsung flagship devices for the arriving year – Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus – will be equipped with the powerful Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 processor, and not only that, they will come out as the first devices boasting the mentioned chipset. These rumors came from Eldar Murtazin, a journalist from Moscow. In a tweet he wrote, it is said that the smartphones will hit the market one month earlier compared to last year’s models, meaning in March 2018. According to Eldar Murtazin, it will take some time for other branded devices to adapt to the mentioned chipset.
It is also important to note that this information most likely applies only to the U.S. version of Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ smartphones. As the case was with Samsung Galaxy Note 8, and other devices, Samsung Galaxy S9 is likely going to boast an Exynos-branded chipset, engineered by Samsung.
This is no surprise, as Qualcomm and Samsung have had, and proceed with, their successful collaboration. Samsung is usually the first manufacturer to feature their flagship smartphones with the newest components. That being said, the recent partnership between the two companies resulted in Samsung’s 10-nanometer FinFET process.
Samsung Galaxy 9 rumors are featuring Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 945, but they are not the only thing that will steal the show. It is expected that Samsung’s new flagship will feature a dual-camera system, with Samsung’s own sensors. Furthermore, the company will most likely remain loyal to the bezel-less design, featured in Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and Galaxy S8. Unfortunately, those leaks haven’t yet been verified.
The Samsung Galaxy S9 rumors also suggest that, unfortunately, we are not going to see a fingerprint scanner built into the screen. The company will rather let it rest on the rear of the phone. It is still not for sure whether Samsung will let its flagship phones follow other smartphones with 6GB of RAM. However, rumors have it that the less expensive option will keep its 4GB of RAM setup.
There haven’t been any confirmations about Galaxy S9’s release date. Moreover, we still don’t know when the company will announce it. So, we will have to wait. Still, that doesn’t prevent us from making our own assumptions based on last year’s model and some rumors in the process.
Samsung unveiled Samsung Galaxy S8 at the end of March. However, it released this year’s flagship almost one month later. The company intentionally waited one month before launching the smartphone, which is why we expect that Samsung Galaxy S9 will see the light of day at the end of February or beginning of March.
It is likely that the company will feature it at the Mobile World Congress 2018, which is estimated to happen in February. It doesn’t hurt to mention that it is expected that the OLED screen is going to make an appearance on the new phone again. This is important because the company will release the screens sometime earlier than usual, which may result in Galaxy S9 coming out earlier too.
