Milan was Buffett’s last stop on a trip designed to raise Berkshire Hathaway’s profile as a potential buyer among large family-owned European companies. Buffett doesn’t usually make himself so visible, but it’s consistent with his goal of getting on the “radar screens” of families that may need to sell a business. All those reporters at all those news conference will help spread the word that he’s ready to buy, if the deal is right.
