Missing The Windows 10 Upgrade Icon? Here’s How To Get It

Updated on

Microsoft’s latest operating system, Windows 10, is going to be out in July, and as you might know, the OS will be offered as a free upgrade for those running on Windows 7 or Windows 8.1. You’re now less than two months away from getting your hands on Microsoft’s latest operating system offering.

So if you are running Windows 7 or Windows 8.1, then you will get an upgrade notification in your system tray area, provided certain Windows updates are installed on your computer.

However, even after installing the latest system updates, some users are still reporting that they are not getting the upgrade notification in the system tray. If the icon is not appearing, then it means that you cannot reserve your free upgrade to Windows 10, and your system won’t download the OS when it’s released.

So to tackle this situation, here’s what you need to do, courtesy of Ghacks.

How to get the Windows 10 upgrade icon

Step 1: First, you will need to download a script from Dropbox, save it to your system, and extract the archive.

Step 2: Run the file win10fix_full.bat by right-clicking on it and clicking on “Run as administrator.” You will also need to click on the Run button when prompted.

Step 3: Now, press 1 and hit Enter to run an update status check, which will check if your system is up to date or not.

Step 4: If your system is up to date, then now you can try all the other three methods, but first try out the “Quick-Method #1.” If this method doesn’t helps, then try out the remaining methods one after the other.

When the script is running, it will also explain what task the script will perform. For many users, the Quick Method #1 orQuick Method #2 solved the issue. Go ahead, try it out.
