Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:APPL)’s Mac Mini is for those who want something that won’t make too large a dent in their pockets. The Mac Mini debuted in 2005 and as we know, it employs the mantra of BYOKM (Bring your own keyboard and mouse), and also doesn’t come with monitor. So if you’re running on Windows or Linux, and want to switch to Mac Mini, then you can make use of your current keyboard, mouse, and monitor.

But ever since its release, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:APPL) has kind of forgotten the Mac Mini and it has never been a part of the company’s shining press events. Strangely though, Apple never felt the need to upgrade the Mac Mini to use Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC)’s new Haswell processors. For a company like Apple, a yearly refresh cycle is not much work, so we don’t understand why the Mac Mini has been left in the cold.

How to upgrade your Mac Mini’s hard drive and RAM

So if you’ve got a Mac Mini and are thinking to upgrade (because Apple doesn’t), then fortunately there are two things that you can easily upgrade, provided you’re a DIY type person. You can upgrade the RAM and hard disk, rather than spending a big amount on buying a new one. In fact, upgrading the hard disk to a newer one such as SSD, and increasing RAM will make your Mac Mini run faster and smoother.

Talking about the hard drive, you can swipe any 2.5-inch hard drive, but you’ll need to ensure that it’s of a large capacity, something like 1TB so that in the future you won’t need to upgrade again. The RAM can be easily replaced as that’s the first thing that you’ll spot after opening the back cover.

So without any further talk, let’s learn how to replace your old hard drive and RAM in your Mac Mini with new one. This video is based on 2013 model.
