Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) (BIT:NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V)’s much-rumored Android smartphone Nokia X recently appeared on CamSpeed database. The device was formerly rumored to be named Normandy, but latest reports indicate that it will be simply called “X”. According to Sofica, the smartphone’s specs are budget-friendly, indicating that it will target emerging markets.

Nokia X to be aimed at Asian markets

On CamSpeed, the device was rated with a pretty good score. The device is said to have a 5MP camera. But the resolution used in the CamSpeed test suggests it should have a 3MP snapper. According to PhoneArena, Nokia X will have Android 4.1 as it will be built on a more stable, older operating system. The model leaked on CamSpeed shows 512MB RAM, 4GB internal memory, and dual-SIM functionality.

Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) (BIT:NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V)’s X, codenamed RM-980 is rumored to have a 1500 mAh battery, and will sport six jolly colors. The device is expected to be announced as a part of the Asha range. It’s going to be the first Android phone from Nokia’s stable, though a highly modified one. After Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) acquired Nokia’s handset business, there were speculations that the company might dump the Android phone altogether to focus on Windows Phone. But consistent rumors suggest that Nokia’s Android device is likely to see the light of day despite the deal with Microsoft.

Nokia X to be a part of Asha range?

Recently, a Vietnamese website showed a leaked image of Nokia X with 4-inch display and 854 x 480 resolution. In December, @evleaks revealed a press shot of the red Nokia X with only one button in the middle, similar to the Asha range. Nokia X/Normandy is expected to sport Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor. The older chipset reiterates that the Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) (BIT:NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V)’s upcoming Android smartphone will have an affordable price tag.

Initially, Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) (BIT:NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V) was reportedly planning to launch the device at Mobile World Congress later this month. But now Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:005930) is going to steal the thunder with Galaxy S5 release at the event. So, the Finnish company might postpone the release date.

American shares of Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) (BIT:NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V) surged 1% to $7.08 at 10:00 AM EST.
