Netflix is bringing back Mystery Science Theater 3000. On Saturday night, the streaming giant announced the relaunch of the series, which will premier exclusively on Netflix.

Another popular show relaunching on Netflix

The resurgence of the series is set to star Felicia Day and Patten Oswalt. The cast also includes names like Bill Corbett, Mary Jo Pehl and Kevin Murphy. The writing staff for the series includesCommunity creator Dan Harmon and Joel McHale, the series star. The writing staff will be supervised by Elliott Kalan, who previously was head writer of The Daily Show.

To fund the revival of the series, creator Joel Hodgson launched a Kickstarter campaign and ended up raising over $5.7 million, breaking the record previously held by Veronica Mars. Hodgson will be designated as executive producer of the revival.

The premier of the freshmen season of Mystery Science Theater 3000 aired on KTMA-TV in Minneapolis, and then Comedy Central took it for seven seasons, while the final three seasons are airing on the sci-fi channel (now Syfy). In its 11-year run, the series has 198 episodes and one feature film. It also won a Peabody award in 1993 and was nominated for two writing Emmys.

Marvel teases its shows on Netflix

Upcoming Netflix/ Marvel series like Luke Cage, The Defenders and Iron Fist were all the subject of separate trailers at Comic-Con as well. Among all the shows, Cage’s trailer is the most complete, given that the series will debut on September 30.

Michael Colter, the star of the show, is portrayed as super strong, and his skin is unbreakable. He is shown wading through hailstorms of bullets as he kicks some villainous butt. The series seems to stick to the “street-level superhero” vibe that’s characterized the Marvel/ Netflix offerings so far.

The trailer of Iron Fist offers fewer details but shows protagonist Danny Rand before he turns to the whole superhero thing. Finn Jones will play Rand in the series. He previously appeared as Loras Tyrell in the most popular show Game of Thrones.

The Defenders is yet another series from Marvel and Netflix, and it ties together the superheroes of Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and Iron Fist in an Avengers-like super team.

On Friday, Netflix shares closed down 0.12% at $85.89. Year to date, the stock is down more than 26%, while in the last year, it is down more than 21%. The stock has a 52-week high of $133.27 and a 52-week low of $79.95.
