A 6.4 magnitude earthquake struck off the southern Pacific coast of Mexico on Thursday, the US Geological Survey (USGS) reports. The quake was initially measured at 6.6.
The earthquake, which struck at 1:49 p.m. local time on Thursday, was centered about 8 kilometers (5 miles) southeast of Tres Picos, or 30 kilometers (19 miles) northwest of Pijijiapan. It struck about 117 kilometers (72 miles) deep, making it a relatively deep earthquake.
