The iPhone 6 and its larger brother, the iPhone 6 Plus, officially went on sale this morning. There are plenty of tweets about it. Some media are eve reporting that some fans refused to go on camera because they called into work.

Needless to say, if you called into work today, it’s probably not much of a secret that you went to stand in line for the iPhone 6 or 6 Plus. Unfortunately, those who arrived to the long line late may end up disappointed. Here’s a look at just one of the long lines outside one of the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) retail stores:

How to get your hands on the iPhone 6
BGR offers some tips for those who remain focused on getting their iPhone 6 today. No one should expect the process to be slow or easy. Waiting is the name of the game. Apple retail stores are the best option in terms of inventory. However, they’re also the most crowded. At 6 a.m. this morning, Apple’s flagship store on 5th Avenue in New York was already more than 10 city blocks long.
Small carrier stores will have smaller crowds but also lower inventory levels. BGR suggests that mid-sized carrier stores or Best Buy Co Inc (NYSE:BBY) may be second after Apple stores in terms of likelihood that they’ll have enough iPhone 6s in stock.
Malls and shopping centers may be the best options among these. It’s not a bad idea to call ahead either, although it’s likely that you’ll be stuck on hold for quite some time, and there’s always a good chance that the stock will be gone before you get there.
Also it seems highly unlikely that the larger iPhone 6 Plus will be found anywhere, so if you do happen to see it somewhere, you’re unbelievably lucky. Supply constraints on the 5.7-inch iPhone appear to be very severe.
