iOS 7.1 has been released into the wild, and this new OS from Apple broke the heart of many users who had jailbroken their iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices. With the iOS 7.1 update, Evas0n jailbreak no longer works, which means that even if you crave iOS 7.1, you shouldn’t update or else you’ll lose your precious jailbreak.

Now, apart from the usual bugs and complaints in iOS 7.1, if there’s one ‘good’ bug, or glitch, it’s that you can now hide stock apps from the home screen, even if you haven’t jailbroken your device. The bug allows users to place folders inside folders on the iOS 7.1 Springboard, something which is normally not possible at all. The bug can also make stock apps disappear from the Home screen, which means that you can hide apps such as Compass, Voice Memos and more.

Don’t worry, the apps are not deleted but thanks to this glitch, the apps are only hidden. This means that when you reboot your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, you’ll be able to view those apps again. If you frequently switch off and on, then you might find this process to be tedious. Also note that it will only hide app icons, and the apps will continue to take up storage space on your device.

Hide stock apps on iOS 7.1

Step 1: Place all the apps that you want to hide in a folder.

Step 2: Put this folder on a page where your Home screen is full of icons. The dock apps also needs to be full (6 apps on iPad).

Step 3: Drag an app on top of another to create a folder, and as the animation begins, quickly drag the folder you want to hide inside the newly created folder. You’ll need to be quick to do this.

Step 4: Now, open your new folder and remove the two apps in that folder. Then remove the subfolder out and it will disappear completely.

As said already, the apps will appear again when you reboot your device. Also Apple might fix this glitch in the next iOS update, so try it now before Apple does that.
