Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) certainly does like to be helpful by trying to guess what you’re going to type before you type it into the search box. But sometimes those guesses are just hilarious. I’ve noticed some funny ones myself in the past, but Business Insider‘s Megan Rose Dickey put together a list of some of the strangest ones. I’m just going to list some of the best ones she had and add a few of my own.
Since every search you run on Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG)’s search engine is affected by what you have searched for in the past, you might even want to try some of these yourself to see what comes up. To try these out, just type these headings into your Google search.
Shh the
A couple of responses Dickey got were “shh the octopus” and “shh the rat is our patron.” I got some of the other same ones she did, like “shh the firemen are coming.” But I also got “Shh there’s wine in here mug” and “shh this is my hangover shirt.” Believe it or not, I don’t spend a lot of time Googling about drinking or even actually drinking.
Why are the
When entering these three words, Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) guessed Dickey was looking for “why are they called slutty brownies.” My answers weren’t nearly as fun, as I pulled up phrases like “why are they fighting in Syria” and “why are the flags at half staff.”
I accidentally
So who Googles things they accidentally did looking for advice about what to do? Probably a lot of people, but tell me, Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG), how do people accidentally eat mold? Both Dickey and I received Google’s guess of “I accidentally ate mold.” I also received “I accidentally build a shelf” and “I accidentally ate pork.” (Again, not really sure where Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) is getting these guesses from. It’s definitely not from my search results).
Why do walruses
For this search term, the only funny one was “why do walruses go to Tupperware parties.” I received the same one myself. It’s certainly a pretty odd one. I wonder who asked the original question.
And here are a couple I tried on my own
For the search term “where is,” Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG)’s first guess was “where is Chuck Norris.” Kid you not. For the phrase “who does,” I received the question, “who does number 2 work for.” If you’ve ever seen the original Austin Powers movie, you’ll know the answer to that question. Google also guessed “who does Ted marry.” It’s easy to see where that one came since we watch the television show How I Met Your Mother via our Google Chromecast.
