Facebook Inc (FB) Artwork Uses Profile Photos To Create Collage

At first glance the image looks like nothing more than colorful static. But upon visiting the app for the artwork on Facebook’s site, it becomes clear that the artist has used the profile photos of Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB)’s billions of photos.

Upon closer examination, the photos are organized in squares according to the date the user joined the social network. Of course you could spend eternity searching the artwork to find your own photo and probably never will find it. Thankfully though, there’s a navigation link in the top right-hand corner of the artwork. By connecting your profile with the app, you can find out exactly where you are in all those colorful photos. You can even locate your friends to figure out which of you was the first to sign up for Facebook.

Of course Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) founder Mark Zuckerberg is the very first photo in the collage.

Questions about privacy on Facebook

Of course one area where Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) has gotten into hot water repeatedly over the years is in the area of privacy. The artist addresses this question though, saying that they don’t store anyone private information, pictures or names. Instead, she says they found “a harmless way” to show all of Facebook’s profile pictures and organize them in chronological order.

She notes that the Facebook world is filled with a wide array of people from all over the world, saying, “Because there we are, all mixed up: large families, women wearing burkas, many Leo Messis, people supporting same-sex marriages or r4bia, Chihuahuas, Indian Godes, tourists pushing the leaning Tower of Pisa, selfies, newborns, Ferraris…” and more.
