Hello, My Facebook Friends, See You On The Messenger App

Updated on

Facebook is in the process of pulling out chat from its main app, and instead the social networking giant will soon start forcing its users to install its Messenger application for chatting purposes, according to a report by TechCrunch.

Hello, My Facebook Friends, See You On The Messenger App

Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB)’s main app has always integrated the messaging feature, and never required or forced users to install its Messenger app, but not anymore. Facebook will start sending notifications about this change starting today, and this update will officially begin in two weeks and users will see multiple alerts before the requirement to install the Messenger app. Eventually, all users who want to chat with their friends will need to install Messenger, and this for sure will not make everyone happy.

Why is Facebook forcing users to install Messenger?

According to Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB), it sees its Messaging feature in the main app as slow, buried deep within and not providing a good user experience. Those who use its Messenger app have a better experience with chats, compared to its main app.

If you’re already using Messenger app then you’re good to go. Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) has already implemented a neat button to jump between the two apps. Clicking on the chat button in the main app will take you to the Messenger, and clicking on a panel from the top of screen in Messenger will take the user directly to the Facebook News Feed.

Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) with this move seems kind of desperate and is pushing users to use its Facebook Messenger app for chatting, a move that will make many users angry (including me). Not everyone will want to install multiple Facebook apps sitting on their homescreen. Some of us may want to keep things simple just like it has always been, with the main app being a gateway to social networking as well as chat.

So what do you think about this move by Facebook? Why is the company so desperate to push its Messaging app? Leave your thoughts in the comments section below.
