We’ve all thought about what type of car we would buy if money was no object right? I always wanted a BMW when I was younger because of James Bond. When most people think dream cars, names like Porsche, BMW, Lamborghini, and Tesla all come to mind as they are quintessential dream cars for most people. However they don’t even crack the top dream cars according to new survey data from Gold Eagle.
They recently surveyed 2,000 people to find out what type of dream car they imagine themselves driving. Surprisingly enough, the top five results were all American made cars. Along with the type of dream car they imagine themselves driving, we also asked about how they would define their dream car, as well as their most and least desired traits and features in a dream car.
The results for the top 10 dream cars can be seen below:
- Ford Mustang
- Tesla Model S
- Jeep Wrangler
- Chevy Corvette
- Chevy Camaro
- Tesla Model X
- Charger Hellcat
- Toyota Prius
- Range Rover
- Honda Accord
The survey data also showed that Tesla was the most popular dream car for millennials, where Gen X’ers love the Camaro and Baby Boomers are all about the Corvette. It makes sense to see that differences in dream cars for the different generations.
Most people who identified as “car experts” chose a Ford Mustang as their dream car. Most people who identified as not knowledgeable about cars, chose a Tesla as their dream car.
Top desired traits of a dream car included 4 wheel drive, size, safety, convertible, sunroof and speed.
The survey data also looked at the most popular first cars in America. The top 10 list is below:
- Honda Accord
- Honda Civic
- Toyota Corolla
- Ford Mustang (made both lists)
- Ford Escort
- Chevy Cavalier
- Ford Taurus
- Toyota Camry
- Dodge Neon
- Chevy Camaro (made both lists)
