Who’s in the 99%? Those who earn less than $355,000 a year, according to IRS tax returns from 2009, which provide some information on the top 5%, top 1%, and top 0.1%. The U.S. Census provides 2010 household income data up to $250,000, which represents the lower 98%. Above $250,000 is the top 2%, and contained within, the top 1%. 50% of households earn less than $50,000. This graph also shows the breakdown by race.
