Wozniak: Apple Inc. (AAPL) Should Team Up With Google Inc (GOOG)

Updated on

Apple Inc. (NADSAQ:AAPL) and Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) are strong rivals in the mobile market, but not everyone thinks the two leading phone makers should be enemies. In fact, Apple Inc. (NADSAQ:AAPL) co-founder Steve Wozniak believes the opposite. He sees a lot of potential if both tech giants would put their pride aside and work together for a greater good.

Wozniak: Apple Inc. (AAPL) Should Team Up With Google Inc (GOOG)

Steve Wozniak on Apple and Google teaming up

During a recent interview with BBC technology show Click, Steve Wozniak shared his thoughts on why the companies should team up. One thing he noted was that Android’s human recognition software is more up to par than Siri. Steve Wozniak attributes this to Android’s ability to access the Google search engine. He summed it up with, “Sometimes I say ‘Go to Joe’s Diner’ and [Siri] doesn’t know where Joe’s Diner is. And very often usually I find out that Android does. That is actually the future of intelligence probably for computers getting smarter and getting artificial intelligence. I wish to God that Apple Inc. (NADSAQ:AAPL) and Google were partners in the future.”

Although a real partnership involving both companies seems highly unlikely, he still believes that sharing technology would be a win-win for everyone in the tech market. He suggests fair pricing for licensing. He also believes that cross-licensing and sharing technologies would help the iPhone maker go further.

Steve Wozniak expectations for companies sharing

Steve Wozniak also has hopes that companies sharing would lead to more exciting technologies such as wearable technologies like smartwatches and augmented reality glasses. Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) is working towards a release of Google Glass and now there are reports of a Google smartwatch. It’s been rumored for some time that the Cupertino-based tech giant would launch their own smartwatch, but so far nothing has been confirmed. Steve Wozniak added, “I want a full smartphone-like capability on my wrist. The trouble is the more I think about it, I don’t want the small size. We’re just at the verge of having products that have foldability and flexibility.”

A collaboration between the two tech giants would be a dream come true for many, particularly those who appreciate the best of both worlds.
