Virtu Financial Is Planning For IPO “Sometime Before The Summer” [REPORT]

Updated on

Fox Business Network’s (FBN) Charlie Gasparino reports that Virtu Financial “is finally coming to market,” planning an IPO and they have “re-engaged with its underwriters to issue shares sometime before the summer.”

On whether Virtu Financial is planning on an IPO in the coming months:

“Virtu Financial is finally coming to market. The high frequency trading firm, which pulled its much anticipated initial public offering last year amid the controversy surrounding Michael Lewis’s March 2014 book “Flashboys,” has re-engaged with its underwriters to issue shares sometime before the summer, according to people with direct knowledge of the matter.”

On Virtu pulling its IPO back in April 2014:

“Virtu, founded by former New York Mercantile Exchange chief Vincent Viola, pulled its IPO in April of 2014, citing the regulatory environment and market conditions. But now executives at the firm and their underwriters believe both are much more favorable for the firm the begin the formal process of issuing shares, these people say. Douglas Cifu, Virtu Financial’s chief executive officer, declined to comment.”
