Twitter Inc (TWTR) Goes Down [UPDATED]

Social media giant Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) is down for maintenance. The website’s official status reads, “Most users are experiencing issues accessing Twitter on web and mobile apps. We’re looking into it.”

Twitter’s outage prompts concerns throughout the internet

The Next Web contacted Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) about the issue. They received two updates, the first message was that Twitter is working on fixing the issue. The second message was that though some tweets are showing up, there is a message on the website that it is down for maintenance.

Los Angeles Times reports, “Users are reporting that they have been logged out of their account. When users attempt to log back in, they are either unsuccessful or they are met with a page that says “Something is technically wrong.” Others have said they’ve been met with a page that says the social network is down for maintanence. The issue appears to be affecting both the mobile and Web versions of Twitter. The outage appears to have occured around 10:50 a.m. PDT.”

Twitter acknowledges problem

The Register (UK) added, “Users around the US and the UK have confirmed that the outage appears to be far ranging. Around 30 minutes after the errors began, Twitter updated its official status page with a message saying, “Most users are experiencing issues accessing Twitter on web and mobile apps.”

On March 2nd, there was a brief Twitter outage which lasted about roughly 24 minutes. The latest outage is more of a concern.

UPDATE: Company says the issue has been resolved.
