There were more than 39 Model X cars booked over the Plug in Day weekend, which can be safely calculated after the careful review of a reservation-logging forum post on the TeslaMotorsClub website. Model X matches Model S in performance

A large number of those who booked Model X already owns a Model S or a Roadster model, reflecting that they are satisfied and happy with the performance of models they own and thus are looking forward to buy Model X.

Model X has a sitting capacity of seven passengers, and the chassis slightly varies from that of the Model S. customers can opt for a 60 kilowatt hour or 85 kilowatt hour battery pack, and an option for all-wheel-drive capability via two powerful electric motors. Despite the Model X being a bit heavier when compared to the Model S, it still matches the Model S performance of 60 mph in less than five seconds, as the SUV is equipped with extra torque in the optional all-wheel drive system.

The most stylish and striking feature of the Model X is the patented Falcon wing rear doors replacing the hinged doors. The rear doors turn up like gull wing windows but fold while turning up, allowing ease of use for passengers.

Interiors of the Model X are similar to the Model S, including a 17-inch display screen. Some of the customizable features of the Model S are also present in the Model X.

More detailed info on reservations not available

Reservations of the entry version of Model X start from $5000, which is refundable. The reservation price of the Model X signature is $40,000. There is no word over the number of each variant pre-ordered. Additionally, the selection from two packs of batteries is also not clear at this stage.

Reservations with deposits are the most intriguing feature as Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) is yet to make the formal announcement of the price. Prices may be kept in the same range as for Model S, which carries an official pre-incentive MSRP of between $70,000 and $95,000, depending on the model and features.

More information about Tesla’s Model X will be available in the upcoming Tesla Motors quarterly shareholders meeting. Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) will not start handing over the cars until next year, so there are significant chances that reservations will rise even further.
