Tesla CEO Apologizes In Norway Due To Model S Technical Glitches

Elon Musk, product architect and CEO of Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA), apologized to the customers of the electrical car manufacturer in Norway because of technical glitches in their Model S vehicles.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Musk expressed his apology to more than 1,000 customers in Oslo during a meeting in Oslo last Saturday. He said, “I’d like to extend my apologies. I know there’s been some charging issues.”

Charging issues 95% resolved

Musk explained during the meeting that the Norwegian version of Universal Mobile Connector (UMC) did not function properly. According to him the simulations of the Norwegian grid in California was not properly detailed, but the adapter’s software had been updated and resolved majority of the issues.  He added that Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) will make sure that “everything was perfect.”

Esben Pederson, spokesperson for Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) said the 95% of the charging issues had been resolved. “We expect some customers will still experience issues, but we are now in contact with everyone involved,” said Pederson.

Second largest market

Norway is the second largest market of Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) with 2,100 registered vehicles. The electric car manufacturer started selling its Model S car in the country last August, and it became the best seller the following month as the government provided encouraging incentives for consumers who will buy electric cars.

Supercharger networks in Europe

Last month, Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) officially opened its supercharger network in Europe that connects Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, and Switzerland to allow Model S owners in the region to enjoy convenient and 100% free electric charging as they travel on the German Autobahn and anywhere in the Alps.

The electric car manufacturer’s first supercharger network in Europe opened in Norway last year. Currently, Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) has 14 supercharger locations in Europe, and 81 worldwide.

Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) is scheduled to report its fourth quarter and full year 2013 financial results in February 19, 2014 at 2:30 in the afternoon Pacific Standard Time.
