Sirius XM Inks Deal with Wharton for Business Radio Channel

Sirius XM Radio Inc (NASDAQ:SIRI) and The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania signed an agreement to launch a 24-hour Business Radio channel that would feature a wide range of topics including hiring, creating business plans, raising capital, and financing businesses—among others.

Subscribers to Sirius XM will be able to listen in on smartphones

The Wharton School’s Business Radio will start broadcasting over Sirius XM Radio Inc (NASDAQ:SIRI) on channel 111 early next year. The subscribers of the satellite radio providers will also be able to access the program through the Sirius XM Radio app on smartphones and other mobile devices, as well as through its website siriusxm.com.

Business Radio to be hosted by well-known distinguished professors and alumni

According to Sirius XM Radio Inc (NASDAQ:SIRI), the Business Radio will be hosted by some of the well-known and distinguished professors and alumni of The Wharton School, as well as executives, entrepreneurs, innovators, and other experts in the industry, who will serve as special hosts and guests.

President of Sirius says people thirst for information on running a business

Greinstein added, “Our listeners will get direct access to some of the brightest minds in business today. The range of topics will be expansive but the discussion and conversation will surely be useful every day in our listeners’ own working lives.”

Some of the programs that will be offered by Business Radio include:

  • Market Update with Jeremy Siegel: a weekly, in-depth analysis of the dynamics of the stock market, hosted by Wharton’s Professor of Finance, Russell E. Palmer.
  • Launch Pad: Hosted by Karl T. Ulrich, Vice Dean of Innovation; CIBC Professor of Entrepreneurship and e-Commerce; Professor of Mechanical Engineering will talk about new ventures.
  • When Things Go Wrong: allows listeners to share their awful customer services experiences and program hosts Christian Terwiesch, Andrew M. Heller Professor, and Marshall L. Fisher, UPS Professor, both of the department of Operations and Information Management will get to the bottom of the situation.
  • Sports Business: Kenneth L. Shropshire, David W. Hauck Professor of Legal Studies and Business Ethics; Director, Wharton Sports Business Initiative will explore the business issues behind the multi-billion dollar sports industry.
  •  The Business of Retailing: hosted by Barbara E. Kahn Patty and Jay H. Baker, Professor; Director, Jay H. Baker Retailing Center; Professor of Marketing will provide information regarding the retail sector.
