NQ Mobile Inc (NYSE:NQ), a Chinese mobile internet service provider announced its new preload agreement with PT Smartfren Telecom, an Indonesian CDMA/EVBO telecommunications operator on Monday, March 17th.
Details of the agreement
According to NQ Mobile Inc (NYSE:NQ), its preload agreement with Smartfren broadens the distribution of its privacy and security apps. The Indonesian telecommunications provider agreed to pre-install the privacy and security apps its Android smartphones through its app store. Smartfren will be offering NQ Mobile Security under the name “Smartshield.”
NQ Mobile Inc (NYSE:NQ) said Smartfren started pre-installing Smartfield and the privacy app to its new devices early this March. Existing users of Android smartphones will be able to download NQ Mobile’s privacy and security apps through Smartfren’s app store.
Calvin Cai, general manager of overseas business development at NQ Mobile Inc (NYSE:NQ) said, “This agreement with Smartfren significantly expands NQ Mobile’s penetration in the critical southeast Asian market. Identified by NQ Mobile as one of the top 10 most infected mobile markets, Indonesia stands to benefit from Smartfren’s addition of the NQ Mobile privacy and security products.”
Valuable layer of security
Smartfren expects to sell more than 3 million Android smartphones this year. The Indonesian telecommunications provider currently has 12.5 million subscribers.
In a statement, Satyadev Sarvaiya, head of smartphone and device technology at Smartfren said the company” has grown rapidly by keeping an eye on the needs of its customers and becoming the only operator in the region that also provides handsets.” Sarvaiya added that Smartfren will be able to a valuable layer of security for its subscribers through the products if NQ Mobile Inc (NYSE:NQ).
