Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOGL) will be entering the smart watch race this year through its Android Wear operating system for wearables. With what has been revealed so far, Android Wear for sure looks promising, but will it be successful or not? This can only be told from its performance.
Until now, several OEMs have already agreed to release smart watches powered by Android Wear, and they indeed look gorgeous, featuring the beautiful user interface. Now new screenshots of the notification system were published on Google+ via the official Android Developers’ account.
Notifications on Android Wear
On the Google+ post, Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOGL) says that if you’re an app developer and have enabled notifications, then those notifications will work just fine on your new wearable. However, with just a few extra lines of code, you can “deliver even richer experiences on the wearable by using stacks, pages, and voice replies.”
Just in case if you didn’t understood all this talk about stacks, pages, etc, then don’t worry, as users like you and me don’t need to know what lies under the hood. What’s important for us as users is that the notification system should deliver a good experience in such a small screen, and thankfully, from these screenshots, it looks like Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOGL) is successful in doing so. The display will take up the bottom part of the UI and can be controlled by either direct touch on the screen or by means of voice control.
Motorola with its Moto 360 and LG with its G Watch have already announced and even teased their own Android Wear-based smart watches. In fact, you’ll be able to get your hands on these smart watches this year without needing to wait for next year.
