The device has appeared several times in media reports as Lumia 929 over the past few months. But this time it’s coming from a more credible source: Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ). It has the same design that we reported in November. But perhaps the U.S. carrier will name the device as Lumia Icon.
Will Nokia launch a similar variant with other carriers?

The Windows Phone 8 device boasts of a 5-inch display with 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution, 2.2GHz processor, 20MP camera with PureView technology, and a 2,420mAh battery. It will support wireless charging. Other rumored features of the device include 32GB storage, 2GB RAM, dual LED-flash and a metal body.
Nokia to make an official announcement on January 16?
Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ) launched the last Windows Phone device in May 2013, which was the Lumia 928. Neither the carrier nor Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) (BIT:NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V) has revealed when the smartphone will be moved from the test site to the real one. But testing it in the online store indicates that the U.S. carrier may soon make it available for purchase. Other rumors suggest that Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) (BIT:NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V) will be making an official announcement of Lumia Icon on January 16. Let’s wait and see how true those rumors are.
