Nokia 8 Release Date, Price Tipped In A New Leak

Updated on

The Nokia 8 release date and price has been tipped in a new report from from German website WinFuture. The Nokia 8 will be competing with established brands such as Samsung and Apple. A fierce battle is expected when Samsung releases the Galaxy Note 8 and Apple launches the iPhone 8 within the next few months.

Nokia 8 release date said to be July 31

Earlier, there were speculations about HMD Global’s upcoming flagship smartphone, with reports divided over the Nokia 8 and Nokia 9. The German website, however, claims that the next-gen handset will be the Nokia 8 and that it will come with model number TA-1004.

As per the report, the Nokia 8 will run on the Snapdragon 835 processor, the newest chipset from Qualcomm. Additionally, the device will be powered with 4GB of RAM and come with 64 GB of internal storage. The smartphone will reportedly be available in four colors: Steel, Gold/Blue, Gold/Copper and Blue.

According to WinFuture, the handset will come with a dual-SIM version in Europe, but a single SIM variant will also be available. Further, the report hints that the Nokia 8 release date will be July 31 and that the phone will cost about €589, while in other countries, it will be available for slightly less.

The handset’s other rumored specs include a 5.7-inch 2K display and Android 7.1.1. The Nokia 8 is expected to come packed with a dual-lens camera with each sensor being 13MP. There could be a dual-LED flash in the smartphone as well. Previous reports hinted that the screen will be curved and without bezels. Most likely, the device will also have an iris scanner and USB-C and 3.5 mm headphone ports.

Even though the report gives the likely Nokia 8 release date as July 31, there are slim chances that the company will actually do that, given the fact that the Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 have yet to officially hit the global markets.

Other Nokia-branded phones in the pipeline

Recently, there was some news on another Nokia-branded phone. According to the leaked information, the Nokia 2 will be one of the most affordable Android-powered Nokia smartphone. The handset is rumored to be powered by a Snapdragon 212 processor in various markets and low-end MediaTek processor in other markets.

Meanwhile, the Nokia 3 has already arrived and is receiving quite positive reviews. Additionally, Nokia 6 pre-orders have already started in some markets, with sales starting in August. There has been no official announcement about the Nokia 5 yet, but according to reports, the device will be available sometime in mid-August.

Only recently, HMD Global, which licenses the Nokia brand, announced a partnership with Carl Zeiss. It is the same partnership that in the past brought smartphone cameras like the Nokia 808 PureView, which came with a 41 MP rear camera sensor, and the Nokia N95, the first phone in the world to have a 5MP rear camera. This time, the Nokia 9 is expected to be the first phone to come with Carl Zeiss optics.

Amid all the buzz, some might be curious as to why there is no phone dubbed the Nokia 4. The phone manufacturer HMD has reportedly shunned the idea of a Nokia 4 simply because the number 4 is considered unlucky in various Asian markets.
