According to the company, Andy and Lana Wachowski together with J. Michael Straczynski created Sense8, which will run 10 episodes. The Wachowskis were the persons behind the blockbuster Matrix film series, V for Vendetta, Speed Racer and Cloud Atlas while Staczynski is the creator of Hugo award winning Babylon 5 TV series, Changeling, Thor, and Underworld Awakening.  Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) partnered with Georgeville Television in producing Sense.

In a statement, Ted Sarandos, chied content officer of Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) said, “Andy and Lana Wachowski and Joe Straczynski are among the most imaginative writers and gifted visual storytellers of our time. Their incredible creations are favorites of Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) members globally and we can’t wait to bring Sense8 to life.”

On the other hand, the Wachowskis and Staczynski expressed excitement in working with Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) and Georgeville Television in producing Sense&. According to Lana and Andy, “We’ve wanted to work with Joe Straczynski for years, chiefly due to the fact his name is harder to pronounce than ours, but also because we share a love of genre and all things nerdy. Several years ago, we had a late night conversation about the ways technology simultaneously unites and divides us, and out of that paradox Sense8 was born.” Straczynski also stated that he is a fan of Lana & Andy’s creations and he had been looking for a project to work with them for almost a decade.

Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) started to offer its own exclusive original content to its subscribers as part of its initiative to enhance its business model. The company faces strong competition on bidding for rights to stream television series and films, and pays huge amount of fees. The online video streaming company is using data from its viewers based on the movies and television shows they frequently watch in making decisions on what type of original content it should create.
