Are you stuck for a present for the person in your life that has everything? How about buying them a slice of TV history?
According to auto magazine Road and Track, one of the white Ferrari Testarossas from the “Miami Vice” TV show has been listed on eBay with a starting price of $1,750,000. The show featured two of the iconic cars, and this model has only 16,000 miles on the clock.
Perfectly preserved and available on eBay
The producers originally made a replica car, but the Italian automaker found out and offered to donate two authentic cars to the show, on the condition that the replica was destroyed on screen. “James ‘Sonny’ Crockett,” played by Don Johnson, was the primary driver of the 1980s classic.
FoxNews.com got in touch with the current owner, who informed them that he purchased the car around 3 years ago, when he found out that it had been resting in a garage in Miami for years. Photos of the car, which last sold in 1991, appear to show it in excellent condition. Service records and documentation of its past life as a star of television are all in order.
Supercar pedigree
At the time of its release the Testarossa was one of the fastest and most powerful cars in the world, boasting a 390 hp, 4.9-liter V12 engine which could power it to a top speed of 180 mph. A 1986 Testarossa is worth around $89,000, according to the Hagerty Price Guide, similar to their price when bought new.
According to reports the other Testarossa which featured on “Miami Vice” was recently sold for $750,000, with the new owner claiming he has since received offers in excess of $1 million. The car is currently on show at the Swap Shop car museum in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Those of you interested in owning the model listed on eBay can bid until January 7. The holiday period could prove dangerous for fans of the TV show lubricated by a few Christmas sherries.
