iPhone 7 May Sport A Selfie Camera Flash

Apple’s upcoming iPhone 7 and 7 Plus have entered mass production ahead of their official unveiling on September 7. The Cupertino company will start accepting pre-orders on September 9, followed by the retail availability of phones on September 16. Noted tipster Steve Hemmerstoffer of NoWhereElse.fr (via GSM Arena) has obtained internal documents from an iPhone 7 manufacturing plant.

What does “Strobe lens and LED” point to?

The leaked documents contain assembly instructions, showing a diagram of the next-gen iPhone. In the first image, D12 says “Strobe lens and LED.” It’s unclear what the “Strobe lens” refers to, but the second image says the same for rear camera as well (H12). Folks at GSM Arena speculate that the “Strobe lens and LED” could refer to a selfie camera flash.

However, we have seen many iPhone 7 leaks in the past few months, and none of them point to an LED flash on the front. So, it’s possible that D12 simply refers to the display. Worth noting here, the iPhone 6S uses the screen as a flash. It’s merely a speculation that a front flash would accompany the 5MP front snapper. In most other aspects, the leaked documents suggest that the iPhone 7 will be almost identical to the iPhone 6S, except for the redesigned antenna lines and the lack of headphone jack.

iPhone 7 to feature a pressure-sensitive home button

Recent reports suggest that the upcoming iPhones will not feature the physically clickable home button. Instead, the devices are said to come with a pressure-sensitive home button that will give users a vibrating haptic feedback. The new home button would save some internal space that can be used to add new functionality or reduce the thickness of the device.

What’s more, the 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus was recently spotted on the Geekbench with a 2.37GHz dual-core ARM processor and 3GB RAM. The device scored 3,548 and 6,430 on single-core and multi-core tests, respectively. If true, the benchmark results indicate that the iPhone 7 Plus will be even more powerful than the 12.9-inch iPad Pro that had scored 3,224 and 5,466 points on single-core and multi-core tests on Geekbench.
