Rumors and leaks about Apple’s upcoming iPhone 6S and 6S Plus keep pouring in. The latest one comes from the French website NoWhereElse.fr, which has a very good track record of revealing design elements and features of Apple’s future products. The French publication has obtained a series of images of the iPhone 6S front panel rolling off the production line.

iPhone 6S production in full swing

We reported last month that Apple suppliers began early production of the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus in June, while mass production was set to start in July. NoWhereElse.fr said the images were taken by an “informant” who also confirmed that mass production of Apple’s next-gen smartphones had begun. The publication added that the front panel was ready to be shipped to iPhone 6S assembly lines for use in gold and silver models.

As expected, the front cover glass looks identical to the current iPhone 6. The “S” versions are usually minor upgrades, so they are not expected to bring physical design changes. That doesn’t mean the iPhone 6S won’t boast of any design improvements. KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently said that the Cupertino company would use the same Series 7000 aluminum in the iPhone 6S that it uses in Apple Watch.

Force Touch a certainty in the iPhone 6S

The Series 7000 aluminum alloy is 60% stronger than the material used in iPhone 6. It will make the new iPhones bend-proof. NoWhereElse.fr’s source could not confirm whether the panel included sapphire panel or Force Touch technology. Force Touch is widely expected to make it into the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus. Integrating Force Touch into the display will make the next-gen iPhones 0.2mm thicker than their predecessor. The new iPhones are likely to continue using Corning Gorilla Glass.

Leaked schematics obtained by Engadget Japan earlier this month showed that the iPhone 6S measures 138 x 67 x 7.1 mm. Both the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus are rumored to feature 2GB RAM, 12-megapixel main camera, A9 processor, and an improved TouchID support. Reports suggest that Apple will hold the iPhone 6S Keynote on September 8, and launch the devices on September 18.
