iPhone 6 Release Rumor And Other Speculations

Updated on

Do we know that the iPhone 6 is actually set for a release? No, we don’t. No one seems to, but our job is to continue the speculation about the iPhone just like everyone else. Hell, we don’t even know that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will ever even release an iPhone 6.

iPhone 6 Release Rumor And Other Speculations

It may be that the company has realized through its falling stock prices and the rise of Android, that the company needs to do something drastically different. Slapping a new number on an old product, or worse, adding an “S” along with minor updates and upgrades hasn’t been working of late.

At least this is Erik Mack at CNET’s take on things. Mr. Mack slagged off Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) with six reasons why the iPhone 6 will fail to wow us in an opinion piece back in January. Essentially, the author suggested that the iPhone was dead, and the fat lady was warming up her vocal cords to sing of its demise.

He cited Android’s growth, Tim Cook’s inadequacies, the staleness of iOS, the fact that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is no longer “cool”, the fact that its overpriced, and that it lacked a “wow” factor. Mr. Mack, I have to think unwittingly, also showed an unhealthy fascination with Adam Lambert. Two mentions in a reasonably short piece has to be a cry for help.

iPhone 6 Plastic Case

In a piece today by Clare Hopping at Know Your Mobile, Ms. Hopping showed a rendering of what a plastic cased iPhone 6 might look like. The video she used in her post was produced by Ran Avani appeared on Cult of Mac and claims to be the iPhone 6. The piece is largely just a collection of rumors and speculations, but far be it for me to cast the first stone. Her piece includes links to the fact that the iPhone six also showed up in Vodafone UK’s inventory listing for later this year as well as a link to 34 linked patents that may be related to the iPhone 6 or iPhone 5S. Which the company is going to introduce still remains the question on investors, consumers, and analysts’ minds.

iPhone 6 Release Date?

Lastly, in a piece today by Mark Chubb at phonesreview.com, Mr. Chubb makes the case that no matter whether an iPhone 6, iPhone 5S, or both is finally announced, they couldn’t be delivered until September. The crux of Mr. Chubb’s argument comes from Jefferies analyst Peter Misek who recently spoke with Bloomberg on the subject. Mr. Misek in talks with 400 suppliers is certain that production, not yet having begun, will see Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s newest offering(s) arrive in September.
