Another day, another iPhone rumor. Today’s suggest that Apple will not be releasing an iPhone 6c, but rather an iPhone 5se.
So we were all wrong yesterday? Introducing the iPhone 5se
Firstly, ValueWalk does not start these rumors we just perpetuate them and name names when possible. Apparently, I, and many others were wrong yesterday when we showed you the video of the soon to be announced iPhone 6c and its accompanying video. Well, that is if 9to5Mac knows what it’s talking about, but they have a pretty good track record.
Once again, all of this is coming from them but here goes…
In a nutshell, that video of the 4-inch iPhone 6c making its rounds around the web yesterday according to their sources that they claim have used the phone that is codenamed “N69.” Instead, Apple plans not to a release a small screened iPhone 6s, but rather will be improving the iPhone 5s that was released in the autumn of 2013 when Apple always releases its new flagship models following a March announcement.
If Apple plans to throw out the headphone jack in the iPhone 7, they are not going to do that with the iPhone 5se. 9to5Mac says that the Apple employees they’ve spoken with claim that the “se” in the iPhone 5se means “special edition” or simple the addition of “enhanced to the existing iPhone 5. Essentially, you’ll see the iPhone 5se as an iPhone 5 externally with improved hardware, software and internals provided by a grab bag of the last two yearly upgrades.
iPhone 5se features
9to5Mac believe that you will see the following with the 5se:
- Color options of Silver, Space Gray, Silver, & Rose Gold like the 6s models
- Apple Pay, meaning an NFC chip
- A8 chip coupled with the M8 chip from the iPhone 6
- The same 8 megapixel rear camera and 1.2 megapixel front camera also from the iPhone6
- A barometer for Health app use
- Bluetooth 4.2, VoLTE, and 802.11ac WiFi chips from the iPhone 6s
- The Live Photos introduced with the iPhone 6s
Lastly, the site’s piece finishes with the prediction that the iPhone 5s will no longer be produced with the 5se being offered at the same price point. Oh, and as it’s not a flagship phone look for it within months of its announcement.
