iOS 8 is the next big software release from Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is on its way. Developers are already in control of the operating system and working with the new Healthbook application as well as the other great features of iOS 8, and they’re waiting to find out when they can start selling them to users. It seems that the release date for iOS 8 is going to be September 17. Here’s how we worked it out:
iOS 8 Release Date Calculation
From the most recent Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) earnings report we can be pretty sure that the iPhone is going to launch about a week before September 27. Apple likes to release the latest operating system, in this case iOS 8, a couple of days before the new iPhone model, the company also like to make those releases on a Friday so it gets to record an “opening weekend” much like a blockbuster movie.
If all of that falls into place, and it will have to unless Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) wants to miss its fourth quarter revenue guidance by a decent jump, the company will release the iPhone 6 on September 19, very close to the September 20 release of the iPhone 5S. The iOS 8 release date is following the iOS 7 pattern going to be September 17.

Healthbook
Apple is the perfect fitness company. The company’s cool designs and great software design, as well as the sheer amount of information its devices are able to hold, will make losing weight, tacking on mass and leading an overall healthier life easier and much more desirable. Healthbook is going to be at the center of everybody’s New Year’s resolution next year, and it may just make turning one’s physicality around that little bit easier.
Siri song recognition
Siri is finally going to be able to tell you what song you’re listening to when you’re listening to it. The device is probably more useful for somebody driving with Siri listening than anyone else, but it’s something cool to show you’re friends on the day that iOS 8 first hits devices around the world. It demonstrates the glowing power of the cloud and Siri, Apple’s personal assistant.
Time lapse camera
The camera on the iPhone 6 may be more than 8 megapixels, but there’s been no confirmation of the sensor used just yet. What is clear is that you’ll be able to take cool time-lapses with the new device all thanks to the power of iOS 8. Time lapses, which were a key and recognizable part of the cinematography of Breaking Bad, are sure to be in fashion on Vine in about three months.
Phone calls and messages on your Mac
Apple is finally combing the powers of OSX and iOS in a wholesome way. With iOS 8 you’ll finally be able to make phone calls on your mac, as long as you’ve got your iPhone close by.
Better notifications
This is one area that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has really lagged behind Android systems in, but the company has been improving massively. iOS 8 will feature interactive notifications that will allow users to send messages without waiting for another application to open. There’s a rumor that iOS 8 will power a light-up logo on the back of the iPhone 6 as well, but that’s just speculation at this point.
