First Image Of New All-Touchscreen BlackBerry Motion Leaked

Updated on

BlackBerry Motion could be another full touchscreen smartphone after DTEK50. Trusted tipster Evan Blass leaked the first image of the upcoming device. The handset, which was earlier referred to as Krypton, Blass confirmed would be called Motion.

Rumors are that the phone would have virtual keys and water resistance capabilities. On the battery front, the phone will pack a decent 4000 mAh. Initial picture of the handset suggests that TCL has tried to follow the bezel-less trend that every smartphone maker is running after. Further, the home button is visible with the embedded BlackBerry logo. Leaked pictures also reveal the 3.5 mm headphone jack.

On the processor front, BlackBerry Motion would sit on Snapdragon 625 SoC along with Adreno 506 GPU and 4GB of RAM. Similar to other smartphones, BlackBerry Motion would also have the fingerprint scanner sitting under the home button. On the display front, the handset is expected to be full HD.

Separately, a report from Engadget states that the phone would get the IP67 rating and the battery will run for nearly 26 hours “mixed use.” François Mahieu, Head of Global Sales for TCL, told Engadget that the phone would be sturdy enough to brave all types of weather conditions, and would encourage users to ditch brands like iPhone and Galaxy.

BlackBerry Motion – previously known as Krypton, already has the WiFi and Bluetooth certification. On the security front, BlackBerry is not expected to make any compromises clocking the same security features as in KeyOne in the Motion as well. The handset is expected to release with Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box.

Citing a reliable source, PhoneArena says that BlackBerry Motion will come to the U.S., where it will be available on AT&T, Sprint and Verizon. Also, a dual-SIM version would be made available in a few markets like China. Apart from Krypton, it is believed that BlackBerry is also working on another device code-named Juno, notes India Today.

Separately, inspired by the response to the KeyOne, TCL Communications has announced an all-new BlackBerry KeyOne Black Edition. Fanboys wanted a Black edition for a long time, and it seems like the company has just decided to fulfill their wish. The Black Edition is expected to go live from the third-quarter of 2017 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, notes PCMag. Eventually, it will be available in other markets.

BlackBerry was one of the most iconic smartphone brands across the globe, but the company gradually lost its sheen when it got too resistant to change with the changing times. After, living on the edge of becoming obsolete for many years, the company once again seems to be rising from the dust. The company recently posted a profit, which came in above the expectations of Wall Street.

Investors applauded the news as the stock went up 15%. Year to date, the stock has gained over 50%, hinting that the stakeholders are just happy with the way CEO John Chen is turning around the company.

On Thursday, BlackBerry shares closed down 0.54% at $11.02.
