HTC One M8: One Of The Best Android-Based Phones Ever

Updated on

HTC One M8 could be considered one of the best Android based smartphone launched in a while.  HTC’s phones have always been known for attractive design. Most of us would agree that the HTC One (M7) was the best looking Android phone of last year, and with M8, the company has gone a step further by giving it an all-metal finish.

Stylish design for HTC One M8

M8 still retains a unibody design, but now it has a micro-SD card slot supporting up to 128 GB of memory. The device looks and feels good, and is certainly a “jewellery grade finish,” as has been called by Darren Sng, HTC’s senior director for Asia product marketing.

M8 has a fairly drastic curved back, which makes it appear much slimmer than it actually is. The edges of the device are rounded only up to a point that is a few millimeters away from the screen, which makes the phone easy to grip without making a fingermark impression on the display. The top and bottom of the device is also rounded with the grilles of the two speakers fitted above and below the screen. HTC Corp (TPE:2498) has replaced the backlit Android hard-keys with customary OS-level buttons.

HTC One M8 will be available in three colors: gold, bright silver and a darker gunmetal-style body. The device is powered by a 2.3 GHz Snapdragon 801 processor.

Two lenses at the back

Coming to camera, HTC One M8 comes with two lenses at the back. The second lens is not a camera, but a depth sensor that complements photographs shot with HTC’s popular Ultra Pixel camera. The new lens will allow users to perform Photoshop-like tricks. With the help of new features users can focus on specific areas and could blur anything. With a single click user will be able to add many effects, and create cutouts of people. The Taiwanese firm claims that the camera has “faster launch, faster focus and faster burst.”

HTC One M8 boasts of a dual-color LED flash in white and yellow to make pictures appear more normal. Also, users can take better selfies with a 5MP front camera.

The battery life of the phone is again special. HTC claims it to be a 40% improvement over the original One. The company has come up with an ultra power saver mode, which allows only the most basic functions, giving the phone an extra 30 hours of standby, when only 10% of the battery is remaining.

HTC One M8 with exceptional features and design deserve all the success. The Phone will surely give a tough fight to Z2, Galaxy S5  and the much-awaited Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone 6.
