Replacing Daniel Alegre, who took this position last year following Mayer’s departure from Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG), Mr. Temsamani, 39 year old, is now responsible for overseeing all of the U.S company’s sales and operations in the Asian-Pacific region.  With this executive shift,  Mr. Alegre has taken up the operations at the company’s Mountain View, California,   headquarters.

The newly appointed Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) head for Asia Pacific region was the vice president of Google’s products and solutions in the U.S. region. Temsamani’s appointment to this position comes following the company’s rapid growth in Asia over the past few years. Before his appointment to this position, Mr. Temsamani was Google’s head of global mobile operations between 2010 and 2012.

The demand for Google’s Android powered smartphones and tablet computers has been growing in the region for a few years, and as a result, Asia has become an important region for the company’s growth and rise in mobile market.

According to the web search giant, India, South Korea and Japan are three of the top four markets for app downloads on Google Play store. However, the company didn’t disclose the amount of revenue generated from this region.

In China the search giant is already trying to grapple with the country’s demand to monitor and control internet traffic through privacy measures and censorship programs. Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG)’s search business, along with a surge in its growth in the region, has major challenges for the government to deal with.
