General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) announced the recall of 202,115 Saturn VUEs models 2002 to 2004 due to problems in the ignition key of the vehicles. According to the automaker, the problem is potentially linked to two crashes and one injury.
Dealers to inspect key binding
General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) said dealers will inspect the key pullout of key binding in the recalled Saturn VUEs. According to the company, the dealers would replace the ignition cylinder and key set if necessary. Consumers will not pay anything for a replacement.
“Until recall repairs have been performed, it is very important before exiting the vehicle for customers to make sure the vehicle is in “Park.” In the case of a manual transmission, put the transmission into reverse gear and set the parking brake,” according to General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) in a statement.
General Motors recalls Cadillac ATS, Chevrolet vehicles
In addition, General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) is also recalling 48,059 Cadillac ATS four-door sedans model 2013 and 2013 Buick Encore in the United States.
According to the company, the front outboard lap belt pretensioner cables of the vehicles may not lock. General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) explained that the problem may result to a potential increase of occupant movement in certain accidents. The company said dealers will replace both lap belt pretensioners in the affected vehicles.
The automaker said there are no reports of any crashes or injuries related to the problem. General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) discovered the problem during a frontal crash testing and issued a stop sale for unsold models of Cadillac ATS four-door sedan and 2013 Buick Encore at dealerships until the repair is completed.
Furthermore, General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) recalled 14,940 Chevrolet Impala model 2014 to 2015 citing the reason that the inertia latch on some of the LT and LTZ models equipped with front console storage compartments may not engage in case a rear collision happens.
Dealers will replace the console door, storage compartment door inertia latch of the vehicles. The automaker instructed dealers to hold unsold 2014 and 2015 models of the Chevrolet Impala until a repair is done. No reports of crashes of injuries related to the issue.
General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) also called back 1,968 Chevrolet Aveo models 2009 to 2010 and Pontiac G3 vehicles due to brake fluid problem, and 1,919 Chevrolet Spark model 2014 because the left and right lower control arm attaching bolts in the vehicles may not be tightened to specification.
Last month, General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) recalled 500,000 units of Chevy Camaro due to ignition switch problem.
