No matter who you are, if you use a smartphone, it’s likely that you’ve been keeping one eye on the iPhone 8 rumors. Why? Because this year is an important one for Apple‘s line of handsets, with it being the 10th anniversary of its launch. Additionally, there’s another significance, and that’s the falling sales the Cupertino-based outfit has seen over the last couple of years. Over the past few years, it has become apparent that Apple has dedicated embrace to the release of a larger Phablet version of its standard device. Last year’s iPhone 7 Plus with its dual-camera setup proved this, with the company placing all of its higher end tech into the device. 2016’s Note 7 overheating debacle could have seen of the Phablet line of handsets. However, Samsung has discovered what caused the explosive issue and promised to redouble its efforts in preventing that from ever happening again. As such, and in direct opposition to what some industry watchers have said the Note lives on. And this year, a Galaxy Note 8 will emerge with what some rumors are suggesting will be a 4K display. One that is capable of pushing the envelope where mobile virtual reality is concerned with the help of Google’s DayDream platform.

Additionally, it’s entirely possible that we may see a readmittance of the Iris scanning technology that made its debut on the seven last year. Samsung spent significantly developing it, so it seems highly likely it will be there. Expected to be one of if not the most advanced handset this year, here’s a breakdown of its specs and price.

Last year’s release of the Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones came at a perfect time for Google. It enabled them to take advantage of Samsungs woes and move into and pick up sales from the prematurely defunct Note 7 space. A such, they became a huge hit selling much more than was previously expected. Now, in 2017, Google’s Senior Vice President of hardware, Rick Osterloh, has confirmed there will be a Google Pixel 2. In fact, there will be a new XL too, meaning that the company is dedicated to the line.

As for what is known about the smaller of the two devices, these are early days for the rumor mill. Meaning, there’s little information; however, we have been able to extrapolate enough spec information to give you an idea. As well as provide with an outline as to what you should expect to pay.
