Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge on March 1st in Barcelona, but the company had not revealed pricing details. Now, Samsung Netherlands has started accepting pre-orders for the new devices, confirming their prices and availability. Both the Galaxy S6 and dual-edge S6 Edge will start shipping on April 10. The new phones come in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB storage options.
Galaxy S6 pricing begins at €699
Currently, Samsung Netherlands website lists only 32GB version of the Galaxy S6 at €699 and Galaxy S6 Edge at €849. It does not provide the official pricing information of other storage options. The standard Galaxy S6 price in mainland Europe is the same that the 16GB Galaxy S5 launched at last year. The S6 Edge commands a significant premium for its dual-edge display.
Samsung UK website lists both devices as “Coming soon,” but earlier it accidentally revealed that the standard Galaxy S6 will cost £700 in the UK. The pricing information for 32GB version of both phones provided by Samsung Netherlands is in line with the details SamMobile had obtained from Samsung officials on March 1st.
Users may go for bigger storage options
Citing senior Samsung officials, SamMobile reported that the 64GB Galaxy S6 will go for €799, while the 128GB variant will cost €899. According to SamMobile, the curved screen Galaxy S6 Edge will cost €949 for 64GB and €1,049 for 128GB option. Note that the Galaxy S6 doesn’t have a microSD slot, so most users may want to go for a higher storage option.
The Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge both feature similar specifications, except that the latter has a three-sided display. Both smartphones feature a 5.1-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display with 577ppi pixel density. Both phones run Android 5.0 Lollipop and a 64-bit octa-core Exynos 7 processor that promises higher efficiency and lower power consumption. The Galaxy S6 packs a 2550mAh battery while its dual-edge sibling comes with 2600mAh battery. Both phones have a 16-megapixel main camera and 5-megapixel front-facing camera.
