Galaxy Note Edge Price Revealed; Pre-orders Begin In The UK

Updated on

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:005930)’s Galaxy Note Edge pre-orders have kicked off in the UK. The device was unveiled at a pre-IFA event on September 3 along with the Galaxy Note 4. Though Note 4 has already hit the stores in South Korea and China, Samsung says Galaxy Note Edge will arrive in late October.

Galaxy Note Edge costs more than iPhone 6 Plus

Anyway, British online retailer Clove has started taking pre-orders for the device. Including taxes, it would set customers back by £650 ($1,052). That’s in line with what we reported a couple of weeks ago. The Galaxy Note Edge was expected to cost close to $1,000 or even higher due to the heavy cost of its curved display and limited inventory. By comparison, Apple’s 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus price begins at £619.

Note that it’s no the official price set by Samsung. The actual price of the device may be different. Clove offers no word on when the Galaxy Note Edge will ship. Last week, a senior Samsung executive said the Note Edge will be a “limited edition concept.” The phone’s rollout will be gradual, and it may reach some countries as late as 2015.

Galaxy Note Edge a successor to Galaxy Round?

Samsung estimates to sell about one million units of the Galaxy Note Edge by the end of this year. That’s a small quantity compared to the company’s forecast of selling over 15 million Galaxy Note 4 units in the first month of launch. Note Edge is more like a successor to the Korean company’s Galaxy Round, which was launched in South Korea last year.

Galaxy Note Edge sports an impressive 5.6-inch Youm display, 16-megapixel camera, 3.7-megapixel front snapper, Android 4.4 KitKat, 3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage and 3,000mAh battery. The phone’s curved screen offer a practical use. Users can quickly access frequently used apps and features on the side display without moving away from what they were doing on the main screen. The side screen also displays information such as time and weather.
