The Galaxy Note 7 unveiling is less than a month away. As the launch date approaches, rumors about Samsung’s next-gen phablet have intensified. If the latest report is to be believed, it could be Samsung’s costliest flagship phablet yet. The Korean company will reportedly launch only the dual-edge variant of the Galaxy Note 7, and the curved screen phones command a higher price tag.
Will a higher price tag affect Note 7 sales?
Sources familiar with the matter told SamMobile that the Note 7 will start at €849 ($940) in Europe. That is €50 higher than the price of Galaxy S7 Edge that was released earlier this year. It may deter a lot of Samsung fans from buying the device immediately after launch. Some potential customers may wait for a few months until the price drops.
The upcoming Galaxy Note 7 is expected to be a powerhouse phone with 6GB RAM, a USB Type-C port, a 3600mAh battery, Snapdragon 821 processor, and an iris scanner. According to noted tipster Evan Blass, the phablet will be available in three different colors: black onyx, silver titanium and blue coral. It is expected to hit the store shelves within two weeks of the official unveiling.
A real Galaxy Note 7 captured in the wild
Separately, Dutch website TechTastic has obtained pictures of an actual Note 7. It’s not an official-looking press render or a schematic. It confirms the dual-edge screen as well as the iris scanner housed in the top bezel on the front. Contrary to previous reports, TechTastic says the device will feature a 4GB RAM. The Note 7 is believed to feature the same 12MP main camera and 5MP front snapper as the Galaxy S7, but with improved software.
The Galaxy Note 7 stylus is also set for a major overhaul. Recent leaks suggest that the stylus will get an improved Bluetooth LE to enhance the proximity accuracy. The Air Command interface will also get Dictionary and Speaking shortcuts for translating words from one language to another and offering a text-to-speech functionality.
