Facebook Rubbishes Anonymous Hacking Claims

Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) has rubbished claims by internet hacking group Anonymous that it was the one behind the seething downtime experienced by Facebook users today. Facebook users across the globe experienced log-in difficulties for several hours yesterday as noted in our earlier post, which Anonymous claimed responsibility.

The Anonymous hacker has the reputation of targeting large companies especially those that claim to have top security servers like Facebook. Today, it seemed to have succeeded in claiming credit out of nothing before the late counter statement from Facebook laid down the gauntlet to the open.

Facebook, which is still reeling from the unexpected aftermath of its enigmatic IPO, savored itself from another premeditated publicity attack by discounting the unsolicited claims as fallacious. According to comments from Facebook reported by TheNextWeb (TNW), Facebook says, “Last night’s outage was not the result of a DDoS.”

Anonymous had made two insinuating tweets with regard to Facebook’s latest troubles, whereby one read as follows: “Looks like good old Facebook is having packet problems” to indicate that the shadows surrounding the calamitous IPO is not the only quandary, but a number of them.

The second indecent tweet read, “RIP Facebook a new sound of tango down, b—–*.” How do you make such comments just to make a name? Sorry Anonymous, but unfortunately it appears that you got a neigh on this one.

In an earlier comment, by a spokesperson from Facebook through TNW, Facebook said, “Earlier today, some users briefly experienced issues loading the site. The issues have since been resolved and everyone should now have access to Facebook. We apologize for any inconvenience.” This is a public apology to its esteemed customers.

By midday today, Facebook users were able to login and do their thing without any predicaments. So, was it criminal hacking or just a normal server downtime? Many believe that Facebook’s server is one of the best when it comes to staying up time.
