Ben Bernanke Asks to Delay Deposition in AIG Suit

Excerpts from the report are below.

On whether Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke asked to delay his deposition in the AIG lawsuit with Hank Greenberg:

“He has asked the Judge to delay the deposition in this lawsuit, essentially in Hank Greenberg’s lawsuit against the U.S. government over what he believes is an illegal bailout of American International Group Inc (NYSE:AIG) – Bernanke has asked for a delay. Now here is what I know, I am going to tell you what I know about this. I don’t believe he is going to be giving his deposition that is scheduled Friday, August 16th. And we can’t get a clear answer out of the Fed, we can’t get a clear answer out of the Judge – the Judge on the case would not comment on it. We do know from Greenberg’s guy that he has asked for a delay and here’s the one thing, it’s probably going to be delayed. They usually grant these things. We should point out it is not on the Judge’s calendar the deposition for Friday, so it’s probably been delayed.”
