Apple's New iPod Touch To Ship In 3 Weeks [REPORT]

It was just mere weeks ago when Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) introduced the fifth generation iPod Touch along with the iPhone 5.  Although they didn’t exactly give out the official release date, they did say that it would arrive in stores sometime in October. Now a recent report from Today’s iPhone claims that the Australian Apple online store listed the 32GB (PRODUCT) Red iPod Touch model, which will ship out in three weeks. No word on when the classic iPod Touch 5 will hit stores, although it probably will be available by late October.

The new iPod Touch features a four-inch Retina Display, 5 megapixel iSight camera with LED Flash, dual-core A5 Chip, iCloud, iMessage, Siri, Facetime, Safari, and access to over 700,000 iOS apps. This new iPod also features iOS 6, which insures a more enjoyable experience for iPod Touch users.  The new iPod Touch starts at $299.00 for the 32GB version, and comes in  a variety of colors including blue, coral, lime, silver, and black. The red version is a part of (PRODUCT) Red and some proceeds go towards AIDS research.

The iPod has been around for over a decade, and it’s really a staple product for Apple. The iPod Touch is great because it’s kind of like an iPhone lite. It’s got many of the same features, but it doesn’t cost as much as the latest iPhone. It also doesn’t come with all the obligatory contract fees, which makes it a fun gift for tweens and teens.

It’s great to see how Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) enhances each generation of the iPod Touch to keep up with the current iPhone model. This makes it a viable alternative for people who don’t want to commit, or spend to much on the actual iPhone.

Judging by the specs and features, I predict that this will probably be the top selling products this holiday season.
