Apple’s online store went down again this morning as the tech giant prepares for an influx of iPad Air 2 preorders. The store went down before 4:30 am Pacific Standard Time.
Apple Inc. NASDAQ:AAPL displayed the message, “We’ll be back. We’re busy updating the Apple Store for you and will be back soon.” The message was also scrollable in different languages. Yesterday Apple introduced the iPad Air 2, which features a 9.7 inch Retina display, Touch ID support, and a thinner design. This tablet computer is available in three storage options including 16GB, 64GB, and 128GB. The tablet starts at $499, but LTE versions add $130 extra.
Perhaps one of the more notable changes with the new tablet is its photo and video capabilities. During yesterday’s event, Phil Schiller claimed the device would have the best viewfinder for photos and videos. Unfortunately, not everyone was happy with the company’s eagerness to delve in the world of tablet photography. A few followers expressed their negative thoughts regarding the subject on Twitter.
That said, the iPad Air 2’s camera isn’t too shabby. With an 8MP sensor, the ability to film slow motion video, 42MP panoramas, and time lapses, this camera may just hold it’s own. Although watching a person take photos with a large tablet may seem a bit odd at first, the extra space on the tablet makes viewing the subject much easier.
Unlike the recent event for the iPhone 6 and Apple Watch, the iPad Air 2 event was less significant. During Thursday’s event, Apple also announced a new iPad Mini, iOS 8 update, and OS X Yosemite. The Cupertino tech company also mentioned the success of iPhone 6 sales but neglected to share hard data details. This was actually rather strange as the company always shared data details in the past.
Apple is now ready to kick off upcoming holiday shopping season with the iPhone 6 and iPad Air 2.
