One thing iPhone users could always use is more storage. If the latest Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) report is correct, fans may get what they wish with the iPhone 6. G for Games recently highlighted a set of documents shown on GeekBar. The documents claim the iPhone 6 will be available in 16, 64, and 128 gigabyte capacities. There was no mention of 32GB option.
Apple may offer iPhone 6 with more storage
Right now, Apple already offers three capacity options including 16, 32, and 64 gigabytes. Each phone goes up in price by about $100 per extra gigabyte. Should Apple decide to stick with a three capacity range and remove the 32GB model, the company would have even more opportunity to up sell more expensive versions.
According to the leaked documents, the iPhone 6 will feature 16-gigabyte memory modules designed by SK Hynix Inc (KRX:000660) and Toshiba Corp (TYO:6502) (OTCMKTS:TOSYY). The 64-gigabyte NAND components which come from Toshiba, SanDisk Corporation (NASDAQ:SNDK), and Hynix. The 128-gigabyte modules will come exclusively from Toshiba. A previous rumor suggested Apple may offer an iPhone with 128 gigabytes but limit it to a 5.5 inch iPhone 6.
iPhone 6 to debut in less than a month
Apple is expected to introduce the iPhone 6 on September 9th during a big media event. Rumor has it that the company may postpone the unveiling of the larger 5.5 inch phablet phone until later due to production problems. Apple may or may not introduce the iWatch during the big event.
