Earlier this week, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) announced its two-week (RED) campaign to fight AIDS, and now it looks like the Cupertino-based tech giant will receive additional support from reality starlet Kim Kardashian.

In a statement regarding her app, Kardashian said players can show their support by participating in special (RED) events or purchasing exclusive (RED) in-game items. This app also allows fans to take a (RED)-branded selfie with Kardashian. This is a way to thank her fans for support.

In the weeks leading up to Dec. 25, users can download games like Kim Kardashian: Hollywood, and Apple will donate proceeds from in-app purchases to The Global Fund.

Apple CEO Tim Cook explained, “For eight years, our customers have been helping fight AIDS in Africa by funding life-saving treatments. This year we are launching our biggest fundraising push yet with the participation of Apple’s retail and online stores, and some of the brightest minds in the App Store are lending their talents to the effort as well.”

Apple’s history with (RED)

The tech company knows the value of working on philanthropic projects and isn’t afraid to find creative ways that benefit others. Apple has worked with Bono’s (RED) organization since the beginning in 2006. Apple has so far raised $75 million over the last eight years.

The new apps for the (RED) campaign add a new twist that makes the entire campaign even more fun. The iPhone maker is taking things a step further by offering something special for Black Friday. Some products will come with a (RED) iTunes gift card, with a percentage going towards the fund.

Apple is expected to sell 71.5 million iPhones this holiday season. This report comes from KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. If his estimation proves to be correct, that number would jump 40% over 51 million iPhones sold during the last quarter.
