Samsung Galaxy Gear could not live up to the expectations of Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL). He is known to be open to all the platforms, when it comes to technology, and has gracefully embraced many Android devices.
“That was the only technology I bought to experiment with that I threw out after half a day, sold it on eBay because it was so worthless and did so little that was convenient,” said Apple co-founder.
Galaxy Gear not so convenient
While he agrees that such a device is needed, but the Samsung smartwatch could not serve the purpose well, according to him, and hence he disposed it off in less than a day’s time.
Last week, at a Flying Car innovation conference in Milwaukee, Woz spoke on his experience with the wristwear from Samsung. He feels that the device is not even close to what it should be, and was very much dismayed with the product as it didn’t serve the purpose well, as reported by XConomy.
People have been finding it much more convenient to use the smartphones rather than the watches due to the big screen factor associated with them. Woz feels an ideal smartwatch is one that can well serve all the purposes of a smartphone accompanied with a large screen and offers the convenience of use, as well. According to Woz, the Galaxy Gear lacks the convenience part as it has to be held close to ear and “stuff.”
Apple co-founder expect iWatch to be better
On Google Glass, Woz said, “It may not be that useful, just like smart watches may not be useful enough to get the critical mass they need to really go ahead. But everything I’ve done with Google Glass, I actually kind of liked playing with it.”
Apple is, also, expected to release its iWatch and a new iPhone 6. Woz is very hopeful that the wrist wear from Apple would surely spark buyers’ interest as the iPhone maker has been the leader in innovation and is known for coming up with exciting features.
