Apple CEO Tim Cook’s Coffee Date Sets $560,000 Auction Record

Published on

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s chief executive officer Tim Cook offered to donate time for charity. Cook is offering up a thirty to sixty minute coffee meetup with the winning bidder on Charity Buzz. The initial value started at $50,000, but now the bids reached a record breaking $$560,000.

The bidding is likely to get even bigger as it’s got 18 more days to go before the bid closes. Impressively, a coffee meeting with Tim Cook outstripped all other previous high bid holders, even Bill Clinton’s offer to spend a day with a fan.

Proceeds for this auction go to the RFK Center for Justice and Human Rights. The bidder is also responsible for paying travel and accommodations.

Yesterday, Michelle Jones reported on Tim Cook’s offer. As the new CEO for Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), his charitable efforts are often compared to the charity efforts by the former CEO Steve Jobs, who died in 2011. Unlike Cook, Jobs wasn’t recognized so much for his charity efforts. If he did donate money to charitable funds, he didn’t let anyone know about it.

Although some Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) fans may be concerned of the company’s future in Cook’s hands, no one could ever deny his ability to give. Last year, he donated $100 million to philanthropic organizations.

Cook’s current offer is something that any big Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) fan with a lot of money will want to participate in. Although we’re pretty sure patent technology and Apple insider secrets won’t be discussed during the coffee meeting, it’s a safe bet to say that the conversation should still be interesting. It also probably helps that Tim Cook appears to be more open for everyday chit chat.

Other key names who are donating to this charity include Carrie Underwood, Robert DeNiro, Ryan Seacrest, Alex Trebeck, among others.

At the rate the bids are going, Tim Cook’s recent charity effort may just go down in history.
