Yesterday, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s chief executive officer Tim Cook sat down with United Arab Emirates officials to discuss possible collaboration of e-learning programs.
Cook’s meeting with officials
He met with Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi (UAE Minister of Cabinet Affairs) as well as a handful of officials from both sides in Dubai. It’s reported that everyone discussed the possible development of next-generation educational apps. There was also the discussion of a completely new model for educators.
Al Gergawi earned his post secondary education in the United States and is more than pleased with the idea of a possible relationship with Apple.

This report, which first came from Khaleej Times, explained, “Al Gergawi stated at the end of the meeting that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has shown keen interest in the experience of the UAE e-transformation and the shift towards mobile services, smart education and smart cities. The UAE integrated model on using technology in all sectors of life is a key part of the philosophy of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to create a different lifestyle in the UAE with respect to services and educational sectors, and health and economic development, added Al Gergawi.”

One of the highlights at the meeting involved Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s keen interest for the M-Government service award which initially launched in May 2013. The award results are set to be unveiled at the upcoming Government Summit 2014. Al Gergaw claimed the common ground for Apple and UAE is the spirit of creativity and innovation.
