The Tesla Cybertruck is still at least two years away from release, but one police department has already decided that it must have one. Dubai Police will add a Tesla Cybertruck to their already glamorous fleet.

Arabian Business spotted the tweet and spoke to Dubai Police about the Tesla Cybertruck. Commander-in-Chief Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri said they will use the vehicle to enhance their security presence in tourist parts of the city, like near the Burj Khalifa, along Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, around the Jumeirah Beach Residence and in La Mer.
Dubai Police are already well-known for their fleet of supercars, which includes a Lamborghini Aventador, Aston Martin One-77, Bugatti Veyron, Bentley Continental GT and a Ferrari FF. The police department announced on Monday that it will be adding a Mercedes AMG GT 63 S to its fleet as well. The car can reach top speeds of 315 kilometers per hour. Dubai is also known for its high-tech approach to crime fighting, as the city added the first robot cop to its police force a couple of years ago.
It’s unclear when the Dubai Police will add the Tesla Cybertruck to their fleet or whether the agency has already placed a preorder for the vehicle. Tesla plans to start producing the single-motor model in late 2021, although the more expensive tri-motor model isn’t slated to enter production until 2022. Dubai Police also did not say which of the three models it will be adding to its fleet. Based on the agency’s high-profile fleet, it seems possible that it will wait until the tri-motor model is released. Tesla claims the tri-motor model can go from zero to 60 miles per hour in only 2.9 seconds. The truck will have a 500-mile range and towing capacity of 14,000 pounds.
